coil-over you can adjust the hight, and damper stiffness. Springs you can adjust your spring rate and thats about it.

in a nutshell: coilovers you can adjust ride height, springs you cannot. adjusting the ride height can be extremely useful for autocrossing and road racing because of corner weighting. a "true" coilover includes both the spring and damper to allow for maximum adjustability

I would go with a good set of race springs springs.

Coilovers are not the best thing for hardcore handling. Because you can adjust the ride hight, if you are not adjusted perfectly... you screw up the cross balance, and weight transfers.

There was a good link that went into detail about it a few months ago. Anyone have that link?

Coilovers would be good for a nice street ride or show car, that wants to improve handling and has a need (or want) to be able to easily adjust the ride hight. The will improve your handling quit a bit over stock. But I think a good set of springs will out perform a good set of coil overs anyday.

Coilovers + Adjustable shocks

That way you can set it to the ride height you choose then set the shocks to best suite your needs: hard or soft.

People (like me) that ARE hardcore about handling appreciate being able to play with cross weights (like I have been doing the last couple evenings). While I agree that in most cases it's not necessary, most folks don't know what to do with them, and get them to be able to "slam" their rides. (nothing more)
