Coilovers
About a month and a half ago i ordered some Koni yellows w/Ground Control coils and top hats and installed them in my '98 EX. I must say the ride quality is much improved and very noticeable. If you want a great quality suspension w/o the pricetag of full coilovers i would recommend the Koni/GC combo. I ordered mine from a place called RedShift Motorsports and dealt with a guy by the name of Chris (extremely helpful). If you order them from him shipping is free and they are extremely helpful and will help you to determine what all you want to do/can afford. Their kit comes with custom spring rates (meaning you choose the rates) and covers all four corners. Here's the link to their site (http://www.redshiftmotorsports.com/R...ne%20Store.htm) and if you decide to go through them ask for Chris (in case you don't get him) he's been near or at the top of many national auto cross events and really knows his stuff. Oh and did i mention he is really helpful? Haha seriously tho if you really want one of, if not, THE best setup for a civic then go through him.

I run on stock shocks and springs and I like that. Koni/GC is where I'll be taking my business though.
I bought D2 RS coilovers for my ej8, and I must say, they ride amazing. I bought them used for $400 in like brand spanking new condition. reason I bought used is I spoke to D2, and I am still able to buy replacement struts for $150 a pop. Not bad at all compared to my Tein S/S on my eh9. my front 2 are blown, and they quoted me @ $380 to replace the shaft, and overhaul, and 3-5 week turn around.. personally that sucks, and frankly, I think its not worth it.....
Now, you have your label ******. I had peeps tell me D2's blow out, blah, blah, blah..
all shocks will eventually blow out.
But everyone who has ridden in my car, love the ride. there 32 way, and I have mine set at 26 all the way around..
my hight, lets just say, when I press down on my shifter, I can feel the freeway below me lol.... but I don't bottom out, and i'm well with in lowering specs....
my advise, find your budget. do some research. I personally rather buy the replacement, as opposed to returning for repair, or returning for exchange like koni yellow does. Koni although warrant the struts for life which is good too, but your car will be out of commission for the turn around time to send in, and be shipped back to you.. also F/F, Skunk2, and others have very shady policies in the case of malfunction.
research, is key.

Before you get the full Koni/GC combo, try your stock springs on the koni shocks. You will then understand the difference between stock shocks and high quality performance suspension. And you will feel much more justified in spending $500 for a set of shocks lol

Ride quality... If you have to have new, then go ahead. If your buying used, make sure your covered. Before I bought D2, I was going to buy koni yellow with gc sleeves because if the warranty and reputation, but D2 also covers their product, regardless of driver....
I bought mine for $400 from a tow yard that came up on a wrecked ek...
That deal is not the norm... In short, buy what your wallet can afford, and then research what is available in your price range.
Don't be a label *****, be informed, and buy what you think its best for your ride. Personally my suspension is over kill since I don't track, but like the ability that I have...

Yes i have, and they are better, way better than OEM, but then so is D2, Tein way better than a great shock sleeve set up,. Are you a label *****, or offended, by my OPINION ? Have you ever experienced a true coilover ?
like I said koni yellow with sleeves was going to be my set up till I found my personal best deal.
Just giving insight on his question with out any prejudice to a brand..
Seems like your one of the reasons Honda tech gets its rep.....
Now that I answered your questions, WHAT'S YOUR POINT?

Frankly, I don't care what you have in your car.... Its yours, not mine......
I'm just trying to give ideas on the best purchase regardless of set up...
For all your questions for me, WHAT'S YOUR POINT O_0 ??????

If any misspelled words. Autocorrect is to blame....
Woah there, im not being mean at all here. I was just asking for your experience. You seemed to be saying that any "true" coilover is better than a shock/sleeve setup. Which is not the case at all. I have tried both. And as soon as I put the Konis on my car, I was blown away. With the stock springs (on the 1" lower perch) I had a ride better than almost any new car I've been in. With the GC sleeves and 350lb springs f/r (ef hatch) I have a very nice, but firm ride. NO bumpiness, no harshness. Just smooth and firm. I didnt think they were going to be that great until I actually rode on them.
Im not a label *****. I've tried other shock/spring/coilover combinations, and plain and simple, Koni/GC blows pretty much everything out of the water. I am not offended by your opinion on your D2 coilovers. To each their own.

F22 master, I want to apologize publicly to you. I thought you were trying to be difficult and childish, and for that I'm sorry...
Now back to topic.
I'm positive of the difference you feel in your car. I agree with your statement of a ride better than a new car. My daughter has a 2012 accord coupe, and the ride is rough and bouncy ( completely stock )
In short , any modifications weather Ebay, or reputable name brand, you will feel a difference in your car. It just might be negative by the amount you spend.
I do not recommend function form at all, and skunk2 will be a rough ride.
Insight on my coilovers, it rides soft and smooth, because I have it set @ 26, but if i set to zero, then point me to the closest track please.......
I , knowing now what I know, and I didn't get the D2, I would go Koni yellows, with lowering springs as opposed to sleeves. You would get a better ride, and better suspension response.....

I have friend at both spots, and both make parts that set them apart, and make parts that are crap....
Skunk2 coilovers pro s is strictly track, and that's probably their best suspension.
If your going with their shocks, I say don't. Go Koni all the way. And their American made, they have been around longer than the import scene, and are a true performance suspension. Skunk2 is race too, but their cheaper priced stuff is just like Ebay, but with their name on it..... They cater to the true race fan, and to the broke kids....
I second that.... I live 15 min away from skunk2, and 5 min away from Buddyclub USA.

I have to agree with this as well, unless your ride is track only i wouldn't bother with any Skunk2 coils. I have owned full coils, lowering spring setups, and a shock/sleeve combo and MYSELF PERSONALLY i think my Koni/GC setup is the best i've ridden in. So while i haven't used every brand name suspension/coilover manufacturer out there, i am just saying that from my experience & others Koni is the way to go especially if you're budget minded
Let your wallet dictate your your ability, and try to make the wisest choice by researching on what you can afford...

listen to peoples experience with their set ups on the ones you can afford, and don't be afraid to buy used from a trust worthy source, and make sure you can rebuild, or replace if you are not the original owner.. GL

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge budget wise I'm a college student and have a job.. Just wanna make sure I do things the right way first so that I don't waste money.
Also keep this mind set when you do the install of w/e setup you decide to go with. I'm not saying you're mechanically challenged but put the same amount of effort into the install of your setup as you did searching for it. Any missed step on a suspension install could be catastrophic to you and your ride. W/e you go with may you enjoy it for years to come!
