Default Help !! How to check for codes

i need to check the trouble codes on my 98 civic.. i know its in the kick panel but what do i use to check them with .. paper clicp ar just a wire.. do i put both ends in or just one help would be appreciated. Gotta find out why the damn check engine light keeps coming on

both ends. one on each hole of the plug.

What plug is it exactly ???on the green one there are 3 different little holes in this one.. umm.. thanks

Is it the codes that are setting off your CEL? If so, then on your car, it should be behind the center console... I posted a link earlier this week... but here you go again...
