Default CODE 4 How DO I FIX THIS!!!!!!!!!!!

I know I already posted this in the CRX/EF forum but no one even looked at it and I need a speedy reply. So sorry mods for the double post. You can delete the other one if you wish.
Anyway...My car started running like **** out of nowhere this afternoon and it thew a code4=Crank position sensor. What exactly is this and how do I fix it? I took off my dizzy cap and there is all this maroonish colored dust in there. Could this be part of the problem? Thanks in Advance!!

Yes, that is the problem. The Crank Position Sensor is located in the dist. I would suggest replacing it and make sure the wiring is good

All of that orange dust is the distributor bearing on it's way out.

Remove the whole distributor and spin the bottom of the shaft by hand.
It should spin freely with the only resistance being the magnetic pickups.

Blow all of that dust out with compressed air.

Don't drive the car with a bad distributor bearing, you'll get stuck, or worse....
