Code 3 with vtec controller?!?!
Just recently, my car has been throwing a code 3 (map sensor). Normally it will happen when I go over a bump. The car would bog and feel like it's on 3 cylinders. After about 5-10 sec, car will be back to normal again. When the CEL does come on, the idle will bounce from 750_1500 and the car will actually stall if you try to launch it normally. (have to launch above 3k) If I shut the car down, everything will go back to normal. I never had this problem until I got the fields controller. Actually it was working fine for the first 2-3 months then all of a sudden I started to run into this problem. I did a search and it seems to have happen to some of you (running a fields vtec controller). Anybody ever figure out how to fix this problem? (besides getting rid of it!!). I've checked the connection as well as the shop who help me install this and confirmed that the connections were fine.
I'm hesitant to drive the car now since I'm running a higher CR. I'm worried that it my not be enough fuel running into the motor when this bogging thing happens.
Think this is the known Fields issue or a bad map sensor?.
thanks

Usually, you get a code 3 (MAP) with the VAFC when you are trying ADD more than 8-10% fuel anywhere in the table.
You can REMOVE as much fuel as you want, but you are very limited when adding it. Perhaps that is your problem.

that is happening to me also.i have the fields...when i go over a bump fast...code 3 pops up and i bog down also..i reset my ecu and turned off my vtec controller and just run off the ECU no problems since.
Thanks for the info guys. Wasn't sure if that was the fix since it was mention before and nobody really confirmed it. I'll set it to all 0 and see what happens. I'm pretty sure that I'm not adding to much fuel to it (+1) If that doesn' work, I'll check out the connections again.
thanks!

I was having the same problem for awhile, but it didn't matter whether I was adding or removing fuel it would always do the same thing, first only when going over bumps, then it would just do it while slowly driving through traffic. I soldered all the wired together and it helped out quite a bit but would still do it sometimes. Eventually I figured out that it was actually coming loose where the wires connect into the harness on the back of the controller. Try securing these somehow, or just make sure they're pushed in completely. Hope this helps out a little, if not let me know, there's a couple of other things that I tried as well but these seem to be the solutions.
Thanks ALLMTRGSR. I'll check that out. Do you still have that problem or did
you get rid of the unit? I'll let you know what happens.

I'll also throw in that my v-afc threw codes even when the settings were at zero. I soldered all connections, and when it threw codes, I re-soldered them just to make sure. No dice. I sold my v-afc and chalked it up to incompatibility with my car's ecu, which a number of other guys have concluded also. On the other hand, lots of guys use it without any problems. Good luck with yours.
mines used to do the same thing. i doubled checked all the wires and stuff. then i played with the fuel and nothing seemed to help. then i checked the dip switches on the back of the controller, and one of the switch wasn't where is supposed to be. and that was my problem. you should check the switches.
