Default Clutch/Tranny issues

Ever since I got my JDM B20A and tranny, my shifting hasnt been that great. It maybe partly due to the syncros but I dont think thats it. Because sometimes the tranny will be very good in all gears and then sometimes rough in all gears. What could this be? clutch? release bearing? master cylinder? slave cylinder?

how can I make sure? I dont want to replace parts if not necesary.
Thanks

Start with the least expensive and easiest to change first: fluid and clutch MC. Also check that the clutch pedal piston adjustment and make sure there's a tiny bit of play in it.

If it still acts up, you may have to drop the transmission...

Clutch master cylinder is on the firewall. Clutch slave cylinder is on the bellhousing next to the radiator.

You can adjust the length of the pushrod from the pedal going into the MC.

First try the cheap fix. Bleed your clutch real good, pump lots of fresh fluid thru there. Maybe it was just air in the lines in the first place.

Look for leaks. Obviously check for leaks in tubing & hose. If the clutch slave cylinder leaks, it'll leak past the piston and fill up the rubber boot with clutch/brake fluid. If the clutch master leaks, it might leak out alongside the pushrod, and soak into your carpeting near the pedal.

Otherwise the clutch MC leaks past the piston back into the reservoir. When this happens, if you're holding the clutch disengaged (pedal down) it'll slowly engage itself. If that's happening, you need a new MC.
