Clutch replacement
So, what's the going rate to have a stock clutch put in an EK (96-00) Civic? I need the throw out bearing replaced, and am thinking o putting a new clutch in while it's out. Would it be cheaper to put an aftermarket clutch in?
I know labor rates vary, but is there a general range for a clutch replacement? My friend and I would do it ourselves, but I work 9-5 and have to have it ASAP (daily driver).
One more thing, the car has 56,000 miles on it. Is it even worth the money to put a whole new clutch in? (The car is stock, soon to have minor bolt-ons.)

You should of gotten many more miles out of that clutch..I've got 140,000 on mine...Either your drving wrong, or had a bad clutch in the first p lace....But to answer your question, yes replace it....If you're going to be putting after market parts on it, might as well get a aftermarket clutch..Sounds like your drving it hard....Just a thought.
I guess I should have let you know that I just bought the car two weeks ago (with 55,700 miles on it).
I'm wondering if the TO bearing isn't wearing prematurely since my friend's LX (which he beats on like an SOB) didn't replace his clutch until 82,000 miles. I know clutches are supposed to last a lot longer than 56K, but I've also had a Nissan that had a TO bearing go at 7K (must have been defective).

Really I would go with an aftermarket clutch.... Definately an ACT, I would go with the heavy duty pressure plate and either a street disk or the 6 puck. My friend has the 6 puck heavy duty in his EG with a D16Z6 in it... I like the 6 puck but it is all up to you... it's really streetable and holds the power good even with "squeeze"... He got the complete kit with, pressure plate, disk, alignment tool, throughout bearing, and pilot bearing for $280 then it was like $12 to have the flywheel resurfaced. I would also just do it urself. When i put his in about a year ago that was my first clutch install and it still only took 2 hours with both of us working. So if you get off at 5 then you should easily be able to be done by 8-9... If you decide to do it urself good luck!! Sorry i really didn't answer ur question about how much labor runs but my buddy that works at Ground Zero Motorsports in Portland, Oregon says that they normally charge $150-200.
