Default Clutch Question

I have a '92 si with i/h/e
My clutch is stock (97,000 miles on it )
It seems like sometimes it will grab and sometimes it doesnt at all.
Is this a sign of my clutch starting to take a ****?
If its not anything major what else could be causing this any details or tips anyone could give me it would be nicely appriciated

Signs of a clutch going- slipping, uneven contact spot (aka from a first gear start, it grabs low and has a 'dead' spot and grabs again). With 97k and the original clutch, it will probably need a new one. Before you buy a new one, learn all you can off the old one so you do not screw up the new one.

With basic hand tools and a jack and jack stands, you come do it in a day or two. Make sure you have 10mm and 17mm 12-pt. sockets to take the pressure plate and flywheel off.

An easy way to check for clutch slippage is to shift into 4th at a low speed and give it a lot of gas. The car should bog badly if the clutch holds, and rev up if it doesn't. You only have to do this for a couple seconds, and you should be able to tell right away. If it slips, time for a new clutch and pressure plate.

You could also try taking it up to about 4500-5000 rpm under light throttle in 1st or 2nd gear, then put your foot down and see if it slips. Is that a cable or hydro release transmission? make sure all that stuff is properly adjusted, etc. as well.
