Default is it clutch problem or clutch slave cyl. problem?

HI all. Does anyone know the operating range of the clutch slave cylinder? I've replaced the master cylinder and the slave cylinder has absolutely no leaks, but its still hard to shift. (especially downshift to 2nd gear). We bled the thing to death to make sure there was no air trapped. The operating range of the cylinder seems like it could go out much further but I was told it shouldn't be required to push out 100% of its range to have the clutch fully disengaged. So the next step is replacing the whole clutch kit, maybe the fork is bent? is this typical? The clutch does not "slip" at all. Of course I don't want to change out the clutch if I don't have to. Thanks.

Damn, I guess you Q. and A. your own thread. If that's the problem you're having, take the next step to find the solution. Good luck on taking out the Tranny and clutch, it's a B*TCH, cause I did...

what kind of clutch do you have? is it like after market rated for some ridiculous power range? if so, the PP might be too stiff

Where does the clutch start engaging? What I mean by that is how far off the floor is the pedal when the car starts moving. Have you tried adjusting the pushrod on the master cylinder? If the clutch engages close to the floor you will need to make the pushrod longer.

Well , I didn't quite answer my own question. I still need to know whAt the operating range is supposed to be for the slave cylinder. I'm trying to avoid pulling the clutch out. There has got to be a spec somewhere that indicates the normal operating range when the clutch is pushed in. And I won't need the luck, I'm paying someone else to do it.
I'm not sure what clutch is currently in it.
Thanks

Hey Scott. Yup, I have it adjusted all the way out. The clutch is engaging REAL REAL close to the floor. Too close, which is why Its hard for me to down shift. If I could get the slave cylinder to push out another inch or so it would be great. But first I need to know how far out its "supposed" to go so I can narrow the problem down. It just MAY be a bent clutch fork.

Its possible your clutch is just worn out or broken. I highly doubt the clutch fork is bent. When it started happening did it happen all of the sudden or gradually over time?

When I bought it the problem was already there. Guess the clutch job is next.
