clutch problem
Hi
I've tried searching and cross posting this in the Prelude forum.
I have an 86 Prelude (fuel injected) and the clutch has stopped disengaging. I've tried adjusting it and replacing the clutch cable. After replacing the cable it worked ok but only for 2 shifts, then the problem returned.
Any ideas/suggestions?
If I have to replace the clutch, any hints/tips? How long will it take me?
Thanks in advance...
Mike

Thanks.
Car is actually a Hornet class race car and currently is at the track. My pref is to do the work there but could get it back to my place (clean covered garage, lift etc) if necessary. Bit of time, bit of money, in each direction. We've replaced a steering rack last night and a head gasket the week before for a different car at the track.
Experience and tools ... I have some experience and a pretty good selection of tools. With the help of my 2 buddies who have quite a bit of RWD experience but none of us have much FWD (but we're learning) I think we should have sufficient expertise to tackle the project. None of us have replaced a clutch in a FWD but they have both done it for RWDs. So the "how long" question is more about when we schedule doing this. Doing work at the track in the evening after work ... daylight can be an issue. So how long should it take for someone to do this the first time if they have reasonable mechanical abilities and tools?
Thanks again.

well with having 3 people that are mechanically inclined it shouldnt take you long at all...,being as its your first time i would say a good full day and it should be done....you really only have to drop the trans side of the motor if you dont wanna yank it out...just remember the flywheel needs to be resurfaced before you put the new clutch in...your RWD buddies shouldnt have any problem its very simular..instead of pulling the driveshaft, their pulling axles
