clutch pedal is stuck on floor?
the other day i hopped in my car, started it, and i pushed the clutch to put it in reverse. the pedal went right to the floor as if the cable just snapped. after finding the cable was fine, i looked it up in the shop manual and it said it was either the throwout bearing or the clutch fork. the bearing is brand new with the recent swap. well i thought i may as well mess with it before ripping out the motor for obvious reasons. so i just got rid of the slack by adjusting the cable, and now it is fine, beside the fact that the adjusting nut is almost out of threads. is it safe to drive like this? i mean it feels fine now, and like i said its a lot of work to pull the motor for no reason. so i'm anxious to see if anyone has heard of this happening and if i should be concerned.
thankyou!
thankyou!
was it the FIRST time after u swapped the clutch??
if it is , then it's normal
if it's not, i would say, bleed ur clutch and see if that helps
or maybe ur slave cylinder is not installed correctly = ur fork is not being pushed by the slave cylinder
good luck

Isn't there some sort of bracket or something that routes the cable up before coming down a bit to the pedal assembly, kinda like a pulley type setup? I'm thinking if the cable "fell off" the pulley, it COULD have made that difference that you're talking about...
Of course, I'm just taking a stab in the dark here....

i dont recall any type of pulley on my setup, although i appreciate the help. yeah i drove it pretty hard today and it still seems like nothin happened. who knows...
This morning my 91 teg did pretty much the exact thing.. I pulled out of my driveway, went to shift from 1st to 2nd and the clutch pedal never came back up.. I was like WTF... so I get it back in my driveway and fiddle around with it. I turned the adjustment nut 19 turns (yes I counted, incase it didn't work and I wanted to put it back where it was) and it feels just the way it did before anything happened. I just got an Exedy clutch and ACT flywheel installed 600 miles ago and was wondering if that had anything to do with it. For now the car seems to be running fine, just not sure if it's good to keep it like that.
wow 19 turns? this is really making me think that our problem is stripping the threads that keep the adjustment nut in place. perhaps our aftermarket pressure plate requires more force than a stock one and increases the chances of stripping the threads? although if they were stripped, i would think that it would come loose more often. its only happened to me twice in over 2 years. or, i wonder if something is not functioning correctly with the clutch internally, since we both have exedy clutches. although i have no idea what would possibly cause this.
