Default Clutch Install - need tranny jack

So I'm putting in the exedy/toda and need a friggin' tranny jack.
anyone know of places to rent one? I don't want to shell out $$ to go buy one...

I tried Pepboys, Autozone, Napa and no luck...

Just use a friend (if you have one) its a lot cheaper than renting or buying a tranny jack. Either that or just have the friend put a normal jack under it while you pull the tranny off the dowels. Then he moves the jack and you set the tranny on the ground.

Just use a regular jack and a block of wood.

yeah the easiest is always using a floor jack with a block of wood but its always quicker to have a big friend bench press the tranny into position. :D i do it all the time takes umm less than 5 seconds...

how tough is a clutch install with just removing the tranny? any time estimates? just remove axles, drain tranny fluid, drop tranny, install clutch, and then all those in reverse order again? need to put my action clutch in, or i can have it done for 120.

I put a jack and a block of wood under my oil pan. I then dropped the tranny. Here is a pic:

A little more involved then that. In no order: Clutch cable or slave cylinder, battery, shift linkage, exhaust downpipe, starter, intake, passenger side radiuus rod, speedo/ps unit in tranny, engine braces between tranny and engine, wiring harness on that side of engine, hood, lower engine brace (on 90-91 teg), axles, intermediate shaft, distributor, and I think thats it. Its involved.Oh yea, and you need some way on holding up the passenger side of the engine.

Timewise, it depends how mechanically inclined you are and how much experience you have on integras. I did mine in 3 hours with a friend. My brother just took like 8 hours just getting the tranny out (he ran into multiple problems). It all depends what you run into and how much you know.

Yep, this way is the fastest/easiest. The tranny isn't THAT heavy.

well, its different if its two scrawny asian guys... a 300lb tranny is pretty heavy to me, lol. But the jack/wood block should do the trick. Thanks for the info guys...

however, I didn't account for various little parts that need be replaced(slackerness + beer + strip club). I hear some clips and bushings need replacement when doing a clutch and the dealer closed an hr ago. I have to wait til Monday. Friggin' a.

anyone mind putting together a list of what little odds and ends need to be replaced?

I think a tranny only weighs like 80-100lbs, most people can probably bench at least that much.

I don't think it even weighs that much. I know that I didn't have any help and ended up swapping clutches and putting it all back together myself, and I'm not that big so must not be that heavy

Doesn't weight close to 300 lbs. TRy 80lbs.

Go to http://www.c-speedracing.com click on howto and see their clutch install guide.

I believe http://www.bseries.net might also have one, and try http://www.team-integra.net articles.

b18c trannys run about 60ish pounds...believe me im not all that strong and i benched an h22 up with my freind pulling it from up top too...its not all that hard, but just make sure you take all the harness etc of the firewall where youll bump the tranny into them putting it back up....for a $120 id have them do it...less work for me = better...but then again ifits going to get done right...its going to get done by me!
