Cleaning a head???
Ok, heres the deal. I just picked up a D16Z6 head for $120. I plan on using it in a mini-me swap on my '91 CRX. The problem is the head has 94,XxX and the valves and combustion chamber is looking mighty crusty. I was just wondering if you guys knew any quick, easy, and/or cheap ways to clean a head. I was thinking of just taking a dremel very lightly to the affected areas to clean them up. Also, if I were to dip it, would I need to disassemble the head completely? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Chris
P.S.- This is where I bought the head from. There are some pictures of it on there. http://www.nostreetracing.org/...t=867

to clean it good your going to have to take it apart.
wire bush works good on valves, re rest; well be creative.
if you do decide to dip the head your are going to have to take it apart to replace the valve seals

Would it be ok to wire brush the combustion chambers and valves and slightly dremel out the inside of the exhaust and intake chambers? I don't feel I'm mechanically compitent enough to completely take apart a head and piut it back together and still have it function properly. Nor do I have the money to pay someone to do it.
