Cleaned IACV and now car doesn't idle, help?
Hey guys. I have a 97 civic d16y8. Before I cleaned the iacv it either idled very low (but never died) or idled where it was supposed to. A bunch of forums said just clean it and the idle would return to normal. I pulled it off and it was pretty dirty, cleaned it, bolted it back on now the motor dies unless my foot is on it. (which btw is really damn hard when I'm at a stoplight or turning and dropping gear to get up hills) Any ideas? Everything is hooked up right, i checked double checked triple checked you get the idea. The two coolant hoses are in the correct place i labled them before i started.
Yeah did that. Also, I drove it about 10 miles and its been sitting for about 30 minutes and just went to start it and it held a low idle. Took it down the street and it almost died but didn't, turned around came to another complete stop - dead. Started it came to complete stop, didn't die, then died after I parked it and got out of gear. I want to say maybe i didn't let the cleaning solution dry out? But that seems impossible that in such a small area it couldnt've dried by now. I think i'm going to go out after the motor is completely cold, pull the battery cable and ECU fuse and then let it re learn idle...if it will stay running that is.
