Classic question
I have a H23ai motor with 163,000 miles on it. It makes some noises but as far as running it does alright. Ive noticed when i first start it up it has a little poof of smoke and when i sit at a light for awhile. I also was under the hood and had put it in neutral and reved it from under the hood and you could tell there was some hesitation bc of the oil.My question is if im going to need a ring job and HOW much it usually costs and if anyone that actually knows about this and isnt guessing if this is most likely what is wrong or what really is. Thanks and i know its the classic newbie question but i do want a second opinion before i do anything.
Have u tried running and changing new oil, changin spark plugs, or oil filters, my cousins civic did that once but we fixed with a oil change, and if u do need new rings it'll cost around 6-8 bucks depending on labor costs and wat parts u buy from, aftermarket rings are alot cheaper then oem though
I put in denso iridium spark plugs and 3m premium wires earlier this year. Ive also had this car since 130000 miles and ive changed it every 2000 miles w/ mobil1 and a k&n gold filter. It just does it when i stop for awhile at a stoplight and when i start it up. It still has the same performance, its not amazing a 6.5 0-60 but im not extremely interested in that since this next year i might try to get somethin new. Any more insight would be great. Im good w/ the history not the technical although i might be a 3rd generation engineer.
