Default civic wiring problem

Will a 97 Gsr wire harness work for a 96 gsr motor in a 93 civic si hatch?
The specific problem I have is my battery is not being recharged by the altenator. The altenator is new. The battery will take a charge. My temp gauge seurges when you rev the motor. This is the stock temp gauge. I think the is a short in the engine harness. I have a 97 in my garage so I was just thinking of using that one to see if it fixes it. This car has been running fine for 8 months after swap. So this is new. please let me know asap.

Thanks

Talk to the Hybrid guys. They should know. I forget if 97 was the first year for OBD2 or 96. If it's 97 then yes. you will need to swap out the distributor.

Either engine harness will plug up to the civic chassis.
