Civic steering question
Hi there, recently acquired a 99 Civic Aerodeck and decided to drive straight on when the road had other ideas ... i.e. I slid on the ice into a kerb smacking my drivers side front wheel.
The tyre was still inflated but driving very slowly produced an intermittent grinding as I guess the rim was buckled.
Put the spare on and drives fine, steering wheel is in the correct position i.e. horizontal when driving straight and the car doesn't pull to either side.
However, my indicator and wiper levers are rotated anti-clockwise about 10 degrees and the right side of the steering wheel is closer to the window than the left side i.e. it the column seems to be bent round that way too.
Anu ideas for what parts I'm most likely to have bent with the impact? Especially given that the steering wheel is still basically in the right position and the car isn't pulling to either side.
Is it even worth getting fixed?
Thanks, Richard.

The points where the steering rack mounts to the car body have likely bent/shifted. It's probably not worth fixing unless it can be done with a bigass sledgehammer, which, of course, is not the right way to do it. A good repair for such a situation would involve remounting the steering rack using an alignment machine to get it in the correct position. You should get an alignment and tell the tech what happened and to check out the steering rack area and make sure no tie rods are bent. I'd give him a tip to look at it extra closely and do what he can to fix it. Save a printout of the alignment.
Thanks, for the advice, I'll do just that.
Just thought it strange that the column appears to have turned but not the shaft as the levers have moved but the steering wheel is still straight - unless two components have bent in different ways and in this case two wrongs do make a right!
Will jack it up when the weathers better and take some measurements to check for any bending on the arms and tie rods.
