Civic cluster gauge problems
Hi HT. I just bought a 97' Civic EX a few days ago off a dealer. Car is manual transmission with a D16Y7 block and D16Y8 Head. I'm having problems getting my cluster gauges to work. My tac works, but temp, speedo, and fuel doesn't. My cluster thats installed in the car is an automatic cluster. So I'm guessing the previous owner had this problem and tryed switching out clusters? I didn't do the swap or anything to the car I got the whole piece how it is. I'm guessing someone put a Y7 block in there cause it was cheaper then buying a Y8? IDK. Anyways, another thing is, I put in my Kenwood head-unit from my Accord into my Civic to see if the speakers worked, which they did. Then after I took it out all my dash. lights went out. I'm worried about the cluster not working cause this car has to pass emissions. No speedo = no pass, which means I can't get this thing on the road and I'm pretty much beat out the money I just bought the car with. I just checked / replaced all the burnt fuses under the dash. Not sure what most of them went to but any ones that looked burnt I replaced anyway. Replaced ALL 7.5's. Now I'm about to rip out the cluster and check the pins. I've heard the wiring / pins might not be in the right places. I doubt all those sensors would be fryed? I checked temp and speedo and nothing really looks out of the ordinary. Although I'm not a mechanic AT ALL. Anyone have any suggestions?
fixed the problems. put gas in the car = gas gauge working
put the manual cluster thats suposed to be in there and temp gauge working
replaced speedo sensor and speedo now works
cool
