Yes, they are necessary, though there are some who will say otherwise. Every ECU with an external ROM from the OEM has them. They are filters. Yes, they need to be soldered in.

ok..i had to ask cuz a buddie told me they wenrt needed,that the ecu will work fine with out them..so i wasnt sure
