Default Chipping an ECU

Hello all, I have a 99 Civic EX so I am aware that I have an OBDII b ECU...but I am getting a turbo kit on it and off the bat I'm gonna have an FMU to tune the car but I want to get a chipped ECU as quick as possible for a better tune and to be able to run higher PSI than 7 on stock internals...my point is I searched the H-T market place and can't seem to find a chipped ECU for my car like that. Now I want to stay away completely from Hondata...please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that once you get it chipped you can download chrome maps for free? If not what ones can you download for free....I've heard of neptune as well...would chrome be ok? Also anyone know where I could find a pre-chipped ECU so I can just plug and play and take it to my tuner to get a chrome map put into it... anyone know the price of one of these? Or would it be cheaper to just take my existing ECU and have it chipped? Sorry for the long post, just want it done right.

EDIT***I really don't have the ability to be able to have the car down for a while to send the ECU away to get it chipped, which is why I am more apt to purchasing a whole other ECU so that once I receive it I can just get it tuned, then on the weekend plug and play and not have to miss work. I'd even be happy with purchasing a virgin ECU and that way I keep the one in my car, send that to be chipped then when I get it back put it in. Am I correct when I say the ECU is properly titled p2p ECU...and will ANY p2p ECU work or is it specific to my OBDII b computer.

depending on your soldering skills you could chip it yourself its not as hard as it sounds some of the parts you can find at radio shack or you can get kits w all the reqd parts again this depends solly on you ability to draw and lay solder good luck

I can solder if I have to if it's gonna save me money. I'm a cheap person and on top of being cheap I don't have a lot of money to spend on everything anyway...I checked on google for some ECU chipping kits...but they are all OBD 0 and OBD I...so on with the replies but thanks for the info mang..everything is appreciated.

You must convert to obd1. Obd2 ecu's have been successfully chipped but there currently is not much supporting software. Your best bet is to buy a obd2-1 jumper harness and a obd1 chipped ecu. Then you have the option to run uberdata/crome/hondata/neptune.

Ah thank you very much for that info...I was not aware that it generally could not be done (minus a few cases as you stated) so basically it is a case of I need to get an OBDII to OBD I connector harness, and buy an OBD I ECU and have that chipped...great. I thought this would be simple...there are so many ECU's for OBD I out there, I have no idea what's goin on or what to get. Thanks for the info though.

If you need a VTEC ECU, I have several chipped ECUs for sale. I also have OBD conversion harnesses. If you want to run the OBD-1 ECU in your car before it is boosted and tuned, you will need to have the proper maps for your Y8 installed in it. The timing and fuel maps are totally different than a D16Z6 engine, which is what is generally found on OBD-1 VTEC ECUs.

If you are interested, I could put an ECU/Harness package together for a good price, and throw in a chip with Y8 maps on it as well. I also guarantee the harnesses and chipping work for as long as you own it.
