Chipped VSS gear in differential...:(
I took apart my tranny to put my new Phantom Grip in. After I spent an hour taking apart the tranny and pulling the differential out, the shitty Phantom grip won't even fit. It is machined wrong, and won't let the pinion shaft in the differential pass through it, so it won't fit. I am getting a refund for the POS.
What is really making me angry is that I accidently slipped with the ball peen hammer and made a very small chip in the VSS gear on the diff. At least I think that is what the gear is. The chip is about 1mm x 1mm or so.
Think it will cause any problems with the functioning of the vss?

chip won't make a difference as long as you didn't take a whole tooth out. btw, on those phantom grips, they make two models, one to fit the GSR/ITR type diff, and the other to fit the B16/LS type diff. you probably have the wrong one.
wrong model or not.. those "Phantom Grip" LSDs are really junk... You can tell by the name they gave it.. Sounds like it needs it own infomercial...
