Check engine light on (2015 Accord Hybrid) with error code U1206
Check engine light just came on. Used my reader and came up with code U1206. Not a lot of information on this code so trying to get some direction. Thanks.
DTC U1206:IMA-CAN Malfunction (PCM-Battery Condition Monitor Module)
General Description
The electric power plant-controller area network (EPP-CAN) transmits/receives pulsing signals to/from the control modules simultaneously by using two signal lines (EPP-CAN A_H and EPP-CAN A_L). When the information is not sent from the battery condition monitor module via the EPP-CAN lines and this condition continues for a specified time or when the information sent from the battery condition monitor module is abnormal and this condition continues for a specified cycle, the powertrain control module (PCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
Malfunction Threshold
One of these conditions is met:
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

Malfunction Threshold
One of these conditions is met:
- The PCM does not receive any signals via the EPP-CAN lines for at least 200 milliseconds.
- The information sent from the battery condition monitor module is abnormal at least 20 times.

- EPP-CAN circuit EPP-CAN A_H line open
- EPP-CAN circuit EPP-CAN A_L line open
- EPP-CAN circuit EPP-CAN A_H line short to ground
- EPP-CAN circuit EPP-CAN A_L line short to ground
- Battery condition monitor module failure (include fuse fall-outs)
- PCM internal circuit failure

There is another thing I just remembered. We had a rat get into our garage several years ago, and he chewed up some wires. They didn’t cause an issue at that time, but I wonder if it could be related.
The battery condition monitor module is to monitor the condition of the high voltage (lithium ion) battery pack located in the trunk area. This module is on top of the battery pack in the trunk area.
The PCM (powertrain control module) aka management electronic control unit, is located in the engine compartment.
What I posted earlier is that possible causes may be a failure of either module or other parts of the circuit (e.g., wire harness, connectors, etc.) The causes may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

Before anything else, clear the code and see if it returns.....
