Default Cheap motor mount replacements

My 188k mile motor mounts just aren't cutting it anymore, and this is my DD so I don't feel like slapping in inserts if they are going to vibrate like hell. I just want something that is comparable to stock, a little stiffer wouldn't be terrible but I just don't want a damn rattle trap.

Does anybody have any experience with replacing all 5 mounts with crap from auto parts stores (Anchor) or whatever from RockAuto.com? It looks like I can get a set of 5 for $70-80 shipped which is tempting.

Moved to misc tech being there is absolutely no car information to support being in a model specific tech thread. Maybe you'll have better luck with general information here in the misc/tech forum.

The rockauto mounts will work fine. They're a little more firm feeling than stock.

How long can you expect those to last? Since the originals on my 96 hatch went 18 years I figured $400 for new OEMs would give another 18. One thing I found out after installing them was they definitely need 2 be torqued in the right order or you get a weird vibe. REdoing the lower rear sucked.

You just need the engine to be raised so it fits the mount straight when you torque the through bolt at each mount.

Never thought about that, good to know. Kinda like how you have to preload the suspension before you torque down the bolts at the bushings.
