changing a type r Lsd into a Ls tranny?? PLEASE HELP!!
i have a type R tranny right now with helical LSD that i broke 3rd gear in it soo i bought a LS hydro tranny with a circitwerks Pro spool in it i was gunna take my LSD out of my type r n swap it into my LS is there any additional Work i need to do as far as Shimming any thing for fitment or changing Final drives or what not ?? thanks for the help HT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its a bit of work to swap, have to change LSD w gear, countershaft gear and reshim the diff so its within spec
you could sell the itr lsd and buy a b16. the b16 will drop in given you remeasure the shims. the difference is that the b16 unit is viscous and not gear driven like the itr one.
and as stated, you could swap out your countershaft and ring gear for one from an gsr or itr and you can use the itr lsd given u remeasure the shims.

Replace diff and measure carrier bearing preload and adjust as necessary.
