changing brake pads?
guys my front brake pads are gone. i started hearing the metal scraping noise last week but didnt want to deal w/ it and now i have to. i looked at them and there is no meant left. should i try and change them on my own or just pay the shop to do it. oh yeah and should i just stick w/ oem pads? thanks
change pads isn't that big of a deal but a shop will probably charge you like it is!
a helms manual shows you everything you need to know
hopefully you didn't screw anything up by waiting so long...

You might need to get your rotors turned. If they have grooves in them take it to a brake shop and have them do the whole thing if not its fairly easy to do a brake job yourself. I would use oem parts by the way.
yea, get the rotors turned, and if you have a c-clamp to compress the piston, then it isnt hard to change the pads at all, and once youve got the caliper off and the pads out, you can take the rotors off and take them up to a local shop and they can resurface them for about $15-$20 a rotor.

well i used the old shim, and no anti squel ****. but now i think i gotta bleed my brakes and i dont have the stuff to do it? anyone have an suggestions, it did take bout 30 min. too
it takes about 10 mins to get the caliper off
Changing pads is so simple.
1. Remove lower caliper bolt and flip caliper up.
2. Pull out old pads and replace with new pads.
3. Compress piston back in with a C-clamp.
4. Pull down caliper and replace lower caliper bolt.
Simple as that. Any monkey with a wrench can do it.
hey, silversleeper, where did you buy your shims?
I need a set of break shims for 3rd gen Integra.
Shims alone are on national back-order and I've checked with Pepboys and Autozone. Neither places carrys them.
At the Acura dealer, they have the break pads in stock, but I already bought a set of AEM brake pads.
