Changed spark wires and now won't start!
I changed out the spark plug boots/wires on my '93 del Sol with no problems. At going around to turn on the car after the procedure was done, I get this; the engine will not turn over; continual stalling as if the battery were dead or something. This was not a problem prior to the wire replacement. More importantly, and this is what concerns me - I'm getting a very frightening POPPING noise emanating form underneath my car during the ignition. Whether it comes from the exhaust or the cat I can't be certain, but it definitely sounds like it's in the exhuast band somewhere. The sound is not a good one and I don't want to risk blowing up my engine or something by trying it too much.
What on Earth is this all about?

be sure you got the main coil wire plugged in to the distributor cover. you may need to pull the actual connector out of the boot and shove it up in, then slide the boot back over the distributor cover.
Trust me, they're in there. I did like you said too, peeled off the boots and everything. This blasted thing just will not start.
What are the possibilities that this is because I bought the wrong wires?

Double check the plug wire order. Accidentally switching two plug wires will cause what you are describing. Make sure you hear/feel a click when the wires snap onto the spark plugs. You can try bending the terminals on the distributor side of the wires outward a little so they make good contact with the distributor terminals.
