Cause of a blown HG? Also, tips. hints on removal,install D15Y7
I've got to replace it on my sisters 93 Civic. Anything on the removel, install that would be worth warning about, please post it up.

nothing you dont see in a B series...
make sure you flush out the coolant, ie take out thremostat, and front plug and flush all the crud out...
and have the radiator checked too...

What about milling the head? Her car has never seen the H spot on the temp gauge, but she has heated it up. Would this be a nesscity?

use your helms to check the head for warpage...
do you know why it has blown? what are the symptoms?
you will generally find out more one you lift the head off and inspect the gasket for the point of rupture... this will tell you more...

Well it mostly becuause its eating coolant like crazy. My sister also had it tested, they put a chemical into the coolant that turns red if the exh. is getting into the coolant. Its not blowing any smoke though. What would caues this to happen? We have an 87 Accord that has 250k on it, we have never had to put a HG on it.
