I just put a new tranny seal on the drivers side axle and when I went to put the 3 carrier bering bolts back in, they didnt really wanna go in that well. So I put the axle back in the spindle and tired it then and all went in good except the lower right one. Any tips?
ive always had trouble getting carrier bearing bolts in easy, until today
i was putting my car back together after an engine pull, and it was time for the carrier bearing bolts
i tried from the bottom of the car like normal, and it was difficult, like normal....
so i get frustrated and go up to the top, and take my left hand and hold up the cv joint, starting with the top right (if you were looking at it out of the car) and tightend it up short of snug, where the carrier bearing coudl still have a little movement and them the bottom left bolt same way, then the bottom right, by wiggeling the carrier bearing around slightly when first tightening the bolts, made them catch threads a whole lot easier.
long story for a simple point, sorry, just got done smoking.

Sounds like you are talking about the intermediate shaft, the axle like shaft between the left axle and the transmission. Try WD40 or penetrating oil on the bolt threads. Move the shaft a little to better align the holes. If the threads on the block are damaged, use a thread chaser to clean the threads up. FYI: a carrier bearing is one of two bearings that support the differential in the transmission case.

BTW, the carrier bearings are inside the tranny and are somethign different, i.e. they mount onto both sides of the differential.

The carrier bearings aren't specific to LSD's. They go around the differential and hold it in place.
