Last night car decided to not start. it doesn't turn over at all. it just clicks. i changed the main relay the a few days before so thats not it. i can hear the main relay click too, so it works.
the distributor makes a click when i try to start it.
i did the paper clip in the spark plug wire thing and got no spark. don't know what this tells me.
how do i know if my starter is bad?
how do i know if my distributor/ignitor is bad?
TIA.

yeah i do hear a 'click'. the 'click' sounds like its coming from the distributor. so that means it works? and it might be the starter? when i get home i'll check the starter out. thanks.

You're probably hearing the starter click, not the distributor. The starter is about 6" below your distributor. Try listening to that area of the engine bay while you have someone crank the engine.
What abt alternator?

altenator was replaced 3 weeks ago. damn i really need to get that swap in already. this d16 keeps falling apart.
are all D-series starters interchangeable? (i can get a one from a DX EF or from a EK CX)
are all D-series ignitors interchangeable? (say from a EF DX)

well this is how i spent my holiday....
when to Pick-A-Part and pulled a starter off a 88 DX. it didnt look like mine. it had the smaller solenoid on the other side. but what the hell it was only 20 buckaroonies. and my damn car runs now
better a starter then a di$tributor.
so a maybe D series starters are all interchangeable. i knew that they have different axles, clutches, and stuff. but my car runs. i had a mitsuba and now have a nippon denso. the denso has a weird shell over the spline thing. and it didnt look like it would work. but now you guys know.
happy turkey day,
charles.
