Car won't start
My car won't start earlier today the car wouldn't turn over or anything. I messed with the distributer and then tried to charge the battery and now the car turnes over and almost starts but then stops starting. Any ideas any help would be appreciated thanks
MM&Y of car would help.
Also is it an auto or manual transmission?
Any mods or is it stock?
What have you checked, other then messing with distributor, [whatever that means] and charging the batt.?
Have you checked timing, valve timing and ign. timing?
Have you checked for fuel. [fuel pressure]?
Have you checked for spark, do you have it and is it a good strong spark?
Have you checked the compression?
Have you checked for vacuum leaks?
If you have not done the above you will need to do so. 94

Sorry I took the dizzy apart and put it back on when I did that I heard the click when turning the ignition after that I hooked up jumper cabels and the car turned over I hold down the ignition and it almost starts but doesn't but when I pump the gas a little it sounds like it's going to start more then dies I am going to check the spark plugs later today
Do you hear the fuel pump priming?
Turn ign. switch on to run, [not all the way to start], you should hear 2 "clicks", [may sound like one click] from the PGM-FI Main Relay, at the same time the CEL will turn on and you will hear the fuel pump running, [priming] after a few sec. there will be a 3rd click from the PGM-FI Main Relay and the fuel pump will turn off and so will the CEL.
Does that happen?, if so...
Turn ign. to run, wait for pump to stop priming then turn the ign. off and on again, wait for pump to stop and do it again, do this 3-4 times and then try and start the car.
Let me know what you find. 94

Here's an update I tried priming the car 4 times it will start now for about 20 or 30 seconds and idle at about 500 or lower then the rpm will start to bounce down lower and it will back fire once then the lights flicker and it dies when I try it again it does the same thing
