car stutters once in a while
it seems like my car is getting a fuel cut off every once in a while like at random times. its usually around 3000 rpms. also i been getting a lot of code 1. any ideas what the prob is???
Could be a lot of things. Is it weather dependant at all? How is the car starting? Have you changed any parts? You could have a sticking injector or your fpr could be pooched. Those are just a couple of possibilities.
It started for this first time this morning coming into work, it was working fine when I was out last night. The only thing that i can think that I may have done to it was about 2 days ago I washed the engine bay of my car, and I'm thinking i might have gotten moisture into the distributor. But if I would have done that wouldnt it have not run right away, as opposed to 2 days later? I had the 90k mile service done at the dealer less than a month ago, and had the timing belt changed and the water pump. I changed the spark plugs last week. I'm not sure what could be causing this.
Probably wouldn't hurt to take the dist cap off and take a look. When was the last time you changed the rotor? Take a look at it and see if it is carbon tracked. Something like that could be many different things though. Any codes?
Lol, you jacked dudes thread.

Ya, you won't have any codes if the lights aren't on unless the bulbs are burnt out in them. It is easy to check. There will be a jumper under the dash of the passenger side by the ECU. There is a green wire and a Blue wire I believe. Just stick a paperclip or a wire in both terminals (jump it), and turn the car to the on position. Do not start the car. If the check engine light blinks then there is a code in there. Here is a link about pulling the codes and what they mean. www.c-speedracing.com You should go ahead and replace the rotor and cap because they aren't very expensive and they are probably due. Hopefully that will solve your problem.
If you check that link the info is in the FAQ.

sorry for not replying about this sooner, i got my problem fixed. I had cleaned out my engine bay 2 days before the problem started...well when i got home i went to pull the plugs to take a look at them and underneath the plug wires was a **** load of water and simple green drowning out each spark plug. i pumped all the water out of the holes, pulled the plugs, dried everything off, put it back together and everything was running fine. i guess some water got underneath the spark plug cover, and over the course of two days leaked its way under the plug wires. anyways, lesson learned.
on a side note, i found the easiest way to pump out the holes was to take the squirter part of a squirt bottle, and stick it down in the hole to pump all the water out, incase anyone else runs into this problem.
