Default Car running richer after intake?

i installed an AEM intake for my integra LS and noticed my exhaust tip is accumulating black powder/soot at a very fast rate. I've reset the ecu after the install and does the same. I put back the OEM intake and reset the ECU and it is doing it still. It normally is very clean but after few days of driving, my finger will turn black if i run my finger through the exhaust tip.

does anyone know why it is doing this and how to fix it? ive triple checked my work, there are no air/vacuum leaks or anything.

Its pretty common for carbon to accumulate on the inside of an exhaust tip. How does the engine run?

Do you know you are running rich or are you just speculating?

i am speculating(black soot = unburned gas?).........my engine runs very well, i dont burn any oil and i am running valvoline synthetic oil.

right after i put in the intake, my exhaust tip will accumulate soot fast, before it did not.

oh btw, this is shifting below 3.2k rpms !!!

im just worried about long term effects like o2 sensors and such.............

Black soot does not equal unburned gas. It is free carbon which is a byproduct of combustion and may be normal. I honestly wouldn't worry about it unless you think the engine runs different than before you put the intake on.

(out of 06) HKS exhaust, DC headers, and AEG cold air intake. been running mobile 1 oil and burns about at least a quart between every oil change. other than changing oil does anyone have any suggestions or things I could possible do to vehicle to make it run great. car also has Hondata ecu. anything helps. thanks

It is best to create your own thread and ask this question... not hijack others and ask in multiple threads. I answered in your other one.
