car running like sh*t
Well, car was losing water, had the head redone and a new gasket put in. Now the car doesnt lose water but it RUNS LIKE SH*T. checked timing, put in new plugs and wires. Can ANYONE HELP!? it idles rough at 900-1000 and you cant push it past 4000. very, very sluggish.
Check your crank to cam timing - it sounds like that your timing is off.
You can actually verify this by doing a running compression test.
it should be about 60 - 90 psi about half the static compression. than snap the throttle compression should rise about 18% or 115 -120 psi. If idle compression is low it intake side problem and if you snap is low this will confirm that you have a intake problem.
or just simply check your crank to cam timing.

Honestly I usually dont do this type of work. However I really didnt want to pay for a headgasket job on a d15b8. A swap is coming soon and i dont want to waste money on the d15.
anyways I should adjust the crank to cam timing.
does that mean I would adjust it to tdc and just move the cam to the "up" position?
Im "kinda" new to this. Im trying and learning as I go. Thanks guys.

Yes! you abjust to TDC. The up most at the up position and the crank white mark lined up to the timing belt cover.

ok, car is running ok now, but it still won't pick up speed. Could this be the cause of an exhaust leak...car is running without exhaust...and it is a 8 valve.
