Default Car overheats

alright. so i just did a motor swap and got a diagnostic and sit. everything was good. but then i start driving and my car voerheats like a mother. so i replace thermo , brand new radiator. and putcoolant in. i drive and the coolant is boiling into the overfill. after my car is off. for like a minute or two. my rad is 170 degrees. and my head is 250 degrees. my fan kicks on. and i drove ithome from the shop and it burned like all that coolant. so im wondering if anyone thinks it could be the head gasket. im not smoking white. but a shop said i was leaking compression into the coolant system. any help would be cool. im getting my head re milled and a valve job and ill have it on tuesday and i want to have this narrowed before then.

Did you bleed the coolant system free of air? A waterpump can push liquid, not air. If you have an air pocket, the water isn't going to flow.

funny u ask...... my temp gauge pointer is gone
so i dunno mabye it is mabye it isnt.....
but i do know that if u put the thermo in upside down. it will create air pockets. if u have the failsafe one. it will have a little brass thing and that has to face upwards.

If your radiator is showing 170 deg and head is at 250.. Then i do believe its not circulating very well, bleed the system properly. And do a cooling system pressure test too see if its bleeding off anywhere.

next replace the waterpump.

i'd suggest waterpump, trying to get out all of the air in the cooling system too. it could be your headgasket, it may not be sealing completely, allowing gases to get into the coolant passages etc. idk just a suggestion
