I have a 96 civic ex and my third gear grinded for the longest time and just got worse and worse but now I can't even shift it into third at all! my second grinds a bit now but not that bad.. i thought if i double clutched it would go in but it STILL doesn't!! tranny's got 80k miles on it but it actually started grinding around 40k.. do I need a new tranny? Anyone else have this problem? it sucks!!!

 

Get a new one or rebuild your existing one. My guess is that the syncros are really really fucked!!!!

make sure you have enough tranny lubricant in your trans. If it still grinds, I would check clutch system make sure it doesn't have air in system. If it has air, clutch doesn't disengage all the way or not at all. If you check these thing and found no problem, maybe your shift linkage adjustment is out or your tranny needs to be overhauled or replaced. I hope this helps,, thanks
