Like to title says, I can't downshift to 3rd gear, I have a b16 tranny on my b18c, and when i got my motor installed at this shop(saying no names) they put in regular tranny fluid and a heavy weight at that. They said i have to run it because i have a kaaz lsd. So I was like ok, not knowing any better. I noticed it was kinda tough to shift but i was like ok must be the poly shift mounts. But about 2 weeks ago I was about to race a prelude and we were crusin and i tried to drop gears and I was denied and like there was a plate infront of third gear no grinding though. I had to let the rpms drop a little for it to go into gear. What gives?? I am putting honda mtf in tomorrow.

 

I've been having that same problem ever since I started smelling egg from my clutch. It's like I have to search around for a passage for it to go inat 80mph and sometimes it's like a block like you said. Also when upshifting in high rpm, it feels like my shifter isn't engaging the gears properly and there is a slight grind b4 going in. This was never a problem till my clutch started going like I said though... Even with the clutch cable adjusted...

 

I have a brand new act heavy duty clutch, so i know its not my clutch.

 

is it cable or hydro? it can be possible dat u need to adjust da pedal, or da clutch could had been improperly installed.

 

sorry cant answer you question, but im just wondering if you rev-match before you shift into gear?
i guess my tranny does it sometimes too..so i usually downshift to 4th then 3rd...

 

its a hydro tranny. I changed my fluids this past weekend and it shifts alot smoother 'but still can't drop to third that easy.
