cannot go into gear once the motor is on
when car is off... 1st - 5th and reverse goes in no problem... turn on the car and you cant put it into any gear...
ive been told bleed the clutch, its your throttle bearing, its your clutch.
anyone have any ideas before i tow it to the shop???

i meant the little pilot bearing behind the throttle bearing in the transmission, and when you start the car in 1st with cluth down... it doesnt move until u release the clutch and after u cant go into any other gear... i was told if the clutch grabs like that then it wont matter if i bleed it or not.
Backroung on the car that was left out:
Motor blew...Clutch/Shifting worked prior to swap
Motor swap complete...clutch system not bled...shifting doesnt work.
Here we are today..."The car wont go into gear when then motor is on"
In my opinion...All it needs is for the clutch line to be bled.....

if you start w/ it in 1st gear and start driving, can you shift into second w/o the clutch (speed matching the 2nd gear)?
if so, it's most probably your clutch line needs to be bled.
is this a new motor or tranny? the tranny syncros might be toast...

after you start going forward you cant go into anygear, it kinda restricts u from any gear... makes a grind noise badly when u force...

i had that same exact problem with an act clutch one time. i replaced EVERYTHING...trans.... u name it. turned out to be the act clutch....even though in the correct packaging......the clutch was just a LITTLE BIT off.....i put in an exedy clutch for the same exact motor/trans combo and everything was back to normal.
i think i had the transmission in and out 4 times that weekend. i hate act clutches....that was the icing on the cake

Nope that should work fine. You either have a bad slave, air in the line, or your clutch is shot.
Have a friend put his hand on the shift boot by the slave cylinder. Does the fork move when you push the clutch in? If no, then bleed the line at the slave. If it DOES move significanly, then you have a clutch problem.

my friend has the same exact problem on his 95 eclipse. he can put it into all the gears fine when the car is off but when the car is on, no go. the only thing was, he was on the freeway on the offramp when instead of downshifting to 4th, he went to 2nd. next thing you know, he couldn't put it into ANY gear at all. we checked the clutch master cyl(full) and clutch slave(was engaging/disengaging). then we checked the fluid. 2 qts low, we fill it up. still same problem. you think the tranny is shot or the clutch is messed up? sorry for jacking the thread.

i had the same problem b4. b16 block, act hd clutch/pressure plate. the clip broke that engages/disengages the throw out bearing. I would check that and see. My car would not go into gear once it was running. i could shift all day w/o it running.
$55 to the tow truck guy
$70 to the mechanic
$10 to replace some hoses
$40 tip
vtec engaging for the first time on the freeway... PRICELESS!!!!!!!!
it wasnt bleeding the clutch or adjusting the pedal... the whole tranny had to come off and be reassembled again... and car is running now.
