Default can my engine take more hp?

well i just got my new car which is a honda civic EX coupe. i'm pretty excited about the seemingly limitless upgrades as compared to my last car('85 rx7). so my question is how durable do you think my engine is?

here's the specs; It has 92k miles and was daily driven. It was a single owner who just replaced the timing belt and the water pump at 90k. The woman who drove it has a mechanic brother who changed the oil frequently and had a full tune-up EVERY YEAR! the car runs smooth and everything sounds good so i assume that the engine is still in good condition. what should i do to see how the engine really is? i'm thinking of checking the compression which will give me some more feedback.

do you think that this engine could handle an occasional 45 shot of nitrous from a dry system? What about a turbocharger or supercharger? what would be good to do before i do any fair hp gains? well thanks for the help and sorry i wrote so much.

Well, compression and leakdown tests will tell you engine condition.

Yes, if the test's are okay, then go ahead and hit your 45 shot.
Honda's are pretty durable when it comes to driving.. Mileage is very strange for them, I don't understand it.. They really aren't affected by it.

Forced Induction does tend to hamper engine durability though.. Without bottom end mods, you're gonna shorten engine life by doing that.. Doubling horsepower= half engine life.. This is very tentative though, engine management systems are the key to this.. My d16Y8 EX has been running a supercharger for 60K without one problem. You have a VERY predictable car. Very depenable.
