camshafts
ive already removed my camshafts and i didnt know i was sapposed to set my 1 piston to TDC how do i go about setting it and also now that ive got the camshafts out of the car how do i go about removing the camgears from the camshaft??
Electric impact wrench (14mm socket) for the camgears.
Use the hook tool from your car jack tools and insert it into the #1 cylinder. Crank the engine CCW until cylinder #1 is at TDC and the crank pulley white mark indicates TDC.

Yeah, you just have to set the crank on the timing mark for #1 (same as #4, it doesn't matter). No need to worry about seeing if piston is up, it will be.
Wrap some rags around those cams and have a friend hold them. Hit the cam bolt with an impact and it will come out.
BE SURE to reinstall the cams pointed in the #1 position. It's easy to be off a tooth the first time you try this, so check your work.

What are you doing with the jack tools?
Improvising. If you're paranoid about a screwdriver of whatever falling in, the hook on the tool will keep it from falling in. Try it....you might even like it.

If he has the cams out I'm assuming he has taken the timing belt off along with the crank pulley. There is also an arrow on the oil pump that you can use, or put the key slot on the crank shaft straight up, or pull the #1 or #4 plug and put something like they said or a stick, then when its at its highest point you are good to go.
