Camshaft/Valve Problems??
The car: 1997 Prelude w/ 97xxx miles.
Okay, I mis-shifted couple of weeks ago. From 3rd @ 8k to 2nd. Soon afterwards I was shifting normally and the car died. It had problems idling. It did this until I tore it all apart tonight. At one point I was getting codes for misfire in all four cylinders. I did a compression check and got 180 180 180 120. I reset the ecu and hooked a obd-2 scanner and it only saw cylinder four misfire. There was no apparent power loss. I just yanked the head and suprise.....no apparent bent valves. However, there is major fouling of cylinder four. The intake camshaft was also jumped a few teeth. Everything else looks great. Also, there were never any odd rattling, pinging, or otherwise while the car was running. The cylinder walls are all also in immaculate condition. So.....mechanically wiz people....or just someone that has a good idea.....what the hell is going on? Could the intake jumping teeth cause problems in only one cylinder?? I'm still taking the head to a machine shop but I still would like ideas.

Sounds like and Intake valve isn't seating soon enough or and exhaust is closing late. Valve springs and your retainers still seated correctly? How bout recoil tested??? Just a thought. Good Luck
You have bent valves on cylinder 4, you may not have looked good enough. If you spray fluid into runners with head tipped up you will see if they are leaking. The valves tagging the head is probably what caused belt to jump. Also when belt jumps time, all cylinders are affected. The figures would all be equally low. At least if they are just slightly bent the seats may be saveable. Invest in quality valve springs while you have it apart, it might save your motor someday...3gdude
