Default Cams for b18b

hey, what are some cheap cams that will provide some noticeable gains for a N/A b18b, with a b16 tranny? I may do some cams sometime soon.

crower makes great cams that have been proven time and time again to make good power on the B18B engine

you may want to look into crower 403's for the street. 404's for more track only use.

The 404s are beyond streetable. Don't bother with the 403's.

Because people go with the 403's because they HEAR that the 404s are lopey or idle like crap.

Those who say they are lopey or idle like crap have never installed them, or never ridden in a car with them, because my car idles like stock inside the car.

Motor mount inserts made a bigger difference in idle quality than the 404s.

maybe i misunderstood what your saying. your sugesting to use the 404s because they are streetable and not to even consider the 403, is that right ?

Yeah, I don't see why you would go with 403's if the 404s are just as streetable and make plenty more power?

on a stock bottom end LS and 404's with minor bolt on's and minor tuning you could probably see 150whp or more.

403=Stock retainers/springs
404=Upgraded Retainers/springs

True or not?

crower has some nice turbo cams for the LS engine. grind number 62402T

high lift and low duration which make it awesome for turbo.

although i have hear of someone using 403's properly tuned with turbo and making good power.

how does a b16 tranny feel with a b18. do the gears feel that much shorter and what is ur rpm at on the highway.

not to thread jack, but the only reason i ask is, i need better gearing than an ls motor and b16s have the shortest for drag like i want.

the B16 tranny will give you the greatest acceleration. and for drag racing thats what you want. on the freeway you will be buzzing over 3500rpm or more at around 60mph.

personally i run a GSR tranny and i love it.

What sort of times did you change between the GSR and the LS tranny?
