cam question
This is probably the worst question ever but here goes.
Do the lobes on cams get worn down at all? I have a ton of miles on my car and when I send out the head to be rebuilt should I slap a new cam in there?

They do get worn, but not as much as you would think. I re-finished the cam on a 1926 Model T I restored, but frankly it didn't really need it. And they didn't have the materials technology we have now.
How many miles?
P.S. that doesn't even come close to the worst question ever. At least you are trying to learn.

What are your plans for the engine? I would only get a new, hotter cam if you are planning to go N/A. They won't jive as well with forced induction unless you are getting a custom grind. I would think your best bet would be to examine the current cam for obvious wear. Also look for pitting on the surface, this is very bad. If it has damage that you can observe with the naked eye, replace it. It shouldn't be too expensive for a junkyard one.
I do have a Gude cam in my CRX. The only problem I have is that it makes the CD player skip at idle.
