i am new to the honda/import scene(i drive a mustang) but my cousin drives a 94 civic hatch with a 1.8 VTEC swap. the car is quick and really opened my eyes to the potential that lies in these cars. he just had cams installed(not sure what brand but not skunk) but what kind of power increase should he see. right now he's runs me pretty close as long as we go from a punch. i'm just curious as to what he gained. he says it's close to 100hp but i don't think he knows what he's talking about.

 

yeah first of all tell your cousin hes a idiot. lol jk yeah 100 hp from cams no way in hell unless they are magic cams lol, no but seriously it matter what cams he used what other mods, there is no way of how much he gained unless he dynoed it forst with out and then with.

 

yes your cousin is an idiot, he probalby got 10-20 hp out of those cams, and even that is exagerating with stock valvetrain.

i know all he has done mod wise is header and exhaust. thanks for the replies. the thing is quick mostly because it's gutted. no power steering, a/c, backseats, or airbag. he weighs a full 1500lbs lighter than my heavy GT

 

have you 2 raced? and who wins out of 'em. I see in your sig that you are bottle fed, so i'm just ASSUMING u waste him huh

 

yea, if i raced him on nitrous i'd kill him(i run a 150 shot) without the juice from a punch i will slowly pull away from him. i usually have about a car or so when we shut down. from the line i get a good jump on him(about a car) then he stays right there the whole way he runs in the mid 14's at the track where i run low 14's

i haven't raced him since the cams but he claims the rings are shot so he can't race me yet but he seems to race everyone else. oh well i'll get a chance to run him sometime

He runs 14's with just a swap and gutted hatch... you gotta love weight reduction !

 

yea, his car is impressive i'll give him that. it's just sad that he thinks it's a lot faster than it is. at least it's not riced out.

 

LOL. 100 hp increase just from cams??? wow? gimme some of that **** he's smokin... pass it over here. hehe.

He needs two more cams to get another 100hp.
