Im going to replace my timing belt soon, I think Im also going to buy some nice cam gears while Im at it. What do you guys think would be a high quality cam gear to go with?

I have the skunk2 cam gears. High quality, and there purdy. no signs of slipping for the last 20,000 miles. they wont do you any good with out new cams though. there is maybe 1 or 2 more hp in the stock cams, only to be found on a dyno anyway. If you are planning ahead, I made as much as 7 lb-ft in some spots and 5 hp all the way across the band with crane cams in my LS motor.
Kinda off topic: Since Im replacing my timing belt I may also replce my water pump as well as the gears. Is it hard to replace the water pumo?

then i got a crappy set of skunk2's...
i tuned them 4-5 times and half the bolts are stripped, they just keep spinning, and i cant loosen the other three on each gear because the damned allen nuts are stripped!!
so im permanently stuck on +4 and -2 until i quit bein a cheappass and get new ones...if i had to choose again, unorthadox, JG, or cusco for price and reliability.

I got Skunk2's. Been using them for years.
You can find them for $180(DOHC) shipped on GroupBuyCenter all the time.
BTW, when you tighten them down, make sure you use a torque wrench and set it to 6-7ft/lbs.

there is most likely a few extra hp in the stock cams on a boosted motor. I think some blowdown would help spool the turbo faster and keep the tops of the pistons a little cooler. Your egt would go up though.
I was just at a "performace shop" and saw the venom gears in person. You would be better off with training wheels for cam gears. Looks like the same quality you find with other infamous brands like WeaponR and APC.
