Default cam gear direction

Which way do i move the cam to advance it? I need to advance my cams a degree due to my milled head. Is it counter clockwise?

Default Re: cam gear direction (dat_flip)

Counterclockwise=advance
Clockwise=retard

The Hanyes manual for 84-95 civic/crx says "Adjust timing as needed, by turning the distributor ccw to retard the timing and cw to retard the timing". I think it's time to get rid of this book.
