Some customer service!!
Anyway, so I will ask here. I bought a used set of GC coilovers and they came with these black rubber cylinder thingamagigs with a slit down the side. What are those for? Here is a picture...they are red at the bottom right in this picture.

They slide between the sleeve and the strut to keep it from moving/rattling. Use the rubber O-rings as spacers betweent the urethane and the strut so everything is tight and doesnt move.
I dont have the rubber rings. Are they essential?
That is just a picture of GC knock-off. I have the real GC's with progressive springs. They are going on a 4th gen Accord (see sig).

If your sleeve fits snug around the shock then I would just put a thin layer of electrical tape so give some type of sheathing so its not metal on metal. I couldn't fit the rings around my fronts so I just coiled electrical tape around on the top and bottom side until the sleeve fit snug onto the shock.

This is the first I've heard of poor customer service at GC. Usually they're eager to answer my questions.
That is what I was going to say. When I called I had excellent customer service.
Ive had some experience with Ground Control's customer service. They are helpful if you ask the right questions but they are very curt with you. They are also very protective of their specs, which is understandable considering the competition. Great product, service could be better. But I have certainly seen worse.
I had a 20 min conversation with one of their guys about installation and he really knew his stuff and helped me figure out why my springs were rubbing on the sleeves.
They told me custom spring rate springs were linear rates where the stock spring rate springs were semi progresive.

i called them to ask tech questions, they wouldn't even tell me the spring rates on the coilovers for civics until i purchased them. they were real F_ucking D_icks!!!
Muckman, what did he say about the spring rubbing the sleeve? Mine used to do that once I installed them it made like a nasty scratchy sound whenever I hit bumps of a certain size and I couldn't figure out why. I retorqued each bolt and it went away.
Yeah they dont want to tell you the spring rates until you are ready to buy them. They're dicks like that. But they are 350F/280R (maybe its 380F/250R cant remember) but its something like that on the Integra kit. I got custom rates anyways
Sleeve Rubbing
My springs were rubbing on the top 2" of my Ground Control sleeve each time the spring would compress. Effectively rubbing away one side of the threading.
Solutions:
1.) Make sure your using the Koni adapter ring (as I was using Konis). It will wobble without it.
2.) The front sleeves are supposed to be the 4" sleeves and the rears are suposed to be 6" but I had them on backwards because they shipped them paired up with the incorrect springs. The 8" front springs were paired with the 6" rear sleeves. And Visa versa. So I installed them that way
-So even tho the top of the sleeve was flush with the top of the shock - the spring would compress and it would arc very slightly and you could watch the spring get closer to the sleeve as weight compressed it slowly until it actually touched the sleeve
If the proper, shorter sleeves were used up front there would'nt have been sleeve near the top 2" where the spring was rubbing on it. Problem Solved
3.) He also said you can move the Koni adapter and perch, down a notch on the shock so that the entire unit is lower and then move the adjuster up an equal amount to achive the same ride height - hense having the same effect as above.
Sorry I dont have my pics developed yet or I would post them. Damn I feel like a Ground Control pro now! Conclusion: I ended up just buying new 6" sleeves ($15ea) after I fixed the rubbing problem.

Jeebus! I had mine on fro about a month now and I didn't know I put the sleeves backwards!
What length springs are you using, and how is your ride height, are you lowered significantly, like more than 1.25 or so?
I have the 6" sleeve on the front, but I'm using 8" springs and am going to go just .25 lower than stock, right now I'm .5 over stock(thought I'd let the springs settle). I'm hoping I won't rub.
Did anyone here buy the perch wrench from them? Is it expensive, i've heard some high prices when asking about this, though I haven't called GC yet.
As for ground control's customer service, I had no problem with them when ordering my stuff, but the shipment was horrible. I also ordered a set of ST swaybars and they shoved everything I ordered (2 Konis, GC kit and springs, ST swaybars) all in the box for the swaybars, everything was just sliding around and the box was bulging at the sides.
