Just like it says, it is an electroplating process that puts a thin layer of cadmium on the surface of the rotor. It will quckly wear off the braking surfaces of the rotor. On the other surfaces it will prevent them from rusting for a couple of years. A lot of places that say the cad plate are using something else(not sure what) instead because cadmium is a toxic metal and the EPA is making it much harder to use than it used to be. If having the rotors not rust for a while is worth it to you, then yes it is worth the cost.
