Default A/C Troubles.

(00' Civic EX)
When I have the car OFF, and the AC is running it is fine. When the motor is running, and just the fan is running everything is fine too. However as soon as I hit the AC button, there is a very slight jump and a grinding type noise is made. As soon as i turn off the AC the noise stops. But when the motor is off, the AC works fine with no noise. Anyone know whats going wrong? When I was driving this morning, the AC was off, and I turned it on and it felt like i down shifted-- acceleration then became VERY poor. I think something is wrong in the pullys down there... please help me! Thanks!

hmm.. have your ac checked out... It might be making too much pressure... and causing your car to have to adjust the idle to deal with it
