Default A/C problems

My 97 TypeR A/C only works on 1.Somtimes it will work on 2.3 & 4 the compressor just goes on and off over and over.Does anyone know where to tell me to look first?Thanks!

check to see if you have enough freon on your system. The low side should read about 35-35 psi, high side ~ 170 psi.

i have had two people look at it and one remove freon and said i did have too much but they evacuated it and now it should have the correct amount.even when it had too much it worked on 1 & 2 and not on three and four.i have been through the service manual and can't seem to find anything that will help me.

well i have a 00' honda, and the AC compressor siezed, and the clutch assembly sheered right off. now i need 750.00 for a new one. how about that? be glad it works at all! it's 118' in AZ.
