A/C and engine overheats ?
If I drive with the a/c on, on a hot day or with just a passenger in the car in about 20 minutes, the water temp goes past half way so I have to turn the A/C off.
I just had new bearings put in the compressor and im thinking the clearances are tight causing more drag on the motor.
My theory: A/C compressor causes more drag on the motor thus the over heating right?
The car warms up like normal so i dont think its the thermostat although I might replace this part anyway.
FYI its a gsr with an SC61 turbo, sleeved motor with a civic sized fluidyne radiator and two 10" 900 cfm electric fans.
Recently I bought a second used compressor from someone here on H-T that they got from the junk yard. It spins really nicely by hand but of course it should be different when on the car. Would it be a waste of my time to put in this compressor i have or could I be right about the drag being to tight on the compressor i got on?

yea i forgot to mention the car will run cool without overheating as long as i dont turn the a/c on. The a/c kills it.
Im thinking of going with a high performance fan i.e. 1700 cfm or so on the radiator

how long has it been doing that..i see that you said you have a turbo those things make some extra heat..but i still dont see why the ac would make you overheat..im gonna look in my mechanics manual ill get back to you in a few
reason overheating could be any of these=ignition timing incorrect, thermostat faulty, insufficient coolant in system, water pump faulty, radiator core blocked or front grille blocked or the fan not working..check all that..maybe you can get a spoon or mugen thermoswitch and or thermostat to bring down the temp..good luck
my car just overheated with the AC as well, now, my car is an accord, and i checked both fans and the AC fan was not working. Thing is my radiator is the long one, not the civic one (half size) soo i don't know what to say.......
your problem is not in the engine or anything that works around it, except AC, check what is wrong with it.
Question, does it overheats if you're on the highway with the A/C on?
